Worked perfectly for my 2015 BMW M3. Buy this and download your choice of app that works with elm327 and you are set. I used the BimmerLink app. My car had thrown a code. Using this product and the app I was able to see it was a common code that is due to my aftermarket intakes - p0171 and p0174. I cleared the code and went on my way. That one time alone saved me $150 in diagnostic time from my dealer, the hassle of missed work etc. Highly recommended.
I’ve had a couple other wireless OBD2 adapters. This works the best as far as connectivity repeatability. Works flawlessly with DashCommand App on my iPhone.
Down side has been if I leave this unit plugged in and active it’s wifi signal interferes with my factory Chevrolet keyless entry remote. Remote is almost completely unable to lock or unlock my truck doors when the adaptor WiFi is on. As soon as it’s off my remote works. Must be some kind of signal frequency interference.
Well worth the price! I have an 06 v6 Mustang with 180k+ miles and an 06 civic hybrid (hch2). It works fine on both vehicles. I do highly recommend you do some research on what specific app you want to run this with depending on your phone/tablet. Another tip is to use an old phone or tablet that you are not using as your main phone. The reasoning is that with the required WiFi connection to the device, you are unable to use your cell data to look up trouble codes, stream music ect. I have been using it for about a month between the two cars and I recommend dash commander for iOS. Many of the other obd2 apps require a monthly subscription. With dash commander the only “necessary” in app purchase is if you want it to be able to read the make specific codes. You can purchase the specific year and model vehicles you will be using with this device and never have to worry about it again.
if you want a cheap OBD2 scanner that is extremely portable, can be plugged in and forgotten about, and gives you enough information to diagnose a simple problem I recommend this. If you want a device to help you code your car, especially newer generation BMWs this device is fantastic.
Worked exactly as desired! Bought to use with Bimmercode app...for coding BMW's. As instructed in blogs, no loading of the provided software...just sync to the dongle's wifi signal. Has worked perfectly over at least a 1/2 dozen connections. I just leave it in the OBD port, then use it's power button to turn it on when desired. Arrived as scheduled. Build quality is just fine.
Works great, I have an iPhone 8+ running iOS bata 12 software at the time of this. It did the connect but wait until its really connected because it wasn't actually connecting to the internet. But once it did I was good to go. I used this for bimmercode app to mess around with my bmw a little. That is really all I'll probably use it for unless I check friends cars out for them.
Finally, i got the touch of this item. I got 3 check engine lights in the past, and my friend who is a mechanic has an ODB scanner which tells the code corresponding my Check engine light, so i was curious to ask him about it and he said i that it was like almost $200 that time.so i did not bother to buy as it will not solve any car problem anyway. But at this low price, why not have one. At least you will know what is happening with your car. I just got trouble installing it in my car as i did not read the instruction properly(hahaha), but once installed its a boom. Only cons i see is i have to buy the app in playstore, as for my reference i dont like the free app else its ready perfect. I wish also that the instruction should be more detailed for easier installation.
I use this in conjunction with BimmerCode on my BMW and it works great! The connection speed is perfect using Wi-Fi. I cannot comment on the Bluetooth version, but the Wi-Fi version works great.
I also use this with Auto Doctor for my wife's 2012 Ford and it works well with that too. I have not tried it on other apps that suggest other equipment, but I'm a curious person and will most likely do that down the road...no pun intended. I will report back once I've done so.
Im guessing a 5. It does take a little tinkering to get it to connect at first. My (Note8 and 2012 Jeep Liberty) didnt want to connect via BT. A quick change in the phones settings and the App's (Torque Pro) and it pops right up. Loads of sensors to choose a gauge for. Tach seems to read about where my dash gauge did. Speedo to GPS speed reading is about where ID expect. Its small enough where my ODB port is so thats not an issue and the On/Off button, while small, is raised enough to "feel" for it to turn the unit on.While it didnt find any error codes on my Jeep, I bought this mainly for my wife's 2004 F150. So Ill test it against my shop's scanner this week. If theres a major difference, Ill adjust this review.
Used it successfully with BimmerCode on my i3. Connection was seamless and very happy so far with the product. I did not use it with the SW that came with the device. I only used the wifi connection and so I have no review in the Bluetooth portion.
It took me about 5-10 minutes of a bit of head scratching before I read the instructions. It states to put your phone in air plane mode then connect to the device. Before this, I was connected, but bimmercode kept saying unsupported device! After placing it in airplane mode and connecting, bimmercode connected with no problems. Btw, I'm using an One Plus Android phone. Maybe this is only a problem with my phone, but it's worth a try if you are having issues. But between this device and bimmercode, they are LIFE SAVERS! I was sick and tired of my F22 having me turn off the radio before I left car and only turned off when I locked it. My wife kept saying, "You forgot to turn off the radio". My co-workers said the same thing! Of course I got kind of used to it, but why should we! Turn off the radio when I pull my door handle like a normal car! Of course, now you can. Oh, and I only have to pull the handle ONCE to open my door from the inside! I used to have to pull it twice, once to unlock the door, second time to open it.....WHAT? Who does this type torture of to the consumers? I think some engineer was like look....I LOVE TO OVER ENGINEER, they pull once, get stuck and cry, they try again and see they are free, duh. I also like the M-performance logos on my startups for my M packaged car. I mean, it just makes it that much nicer, plus 5 HP automatically. I have to say, I loved my car before this, but now I really LOVE my car. I just wish bimmercode knew how to do the valve control on the exhaust, that would be nice to program it to be stuck open, I guess I'll stick to my electrical tape.
I bought this dongle so I could code my 2013 BMW 328i (F30) using the bimmercode app for iOS on my iPad. Within five minutes of receiving it I was coding with my iPad and was able to unlock a bunch of features that BMW had not enabled. You do have to make an in app purchase for $30 in Bimmercode to enable coding. Otherwise it is just in the demo mode. Bottom line is that for a few bucks you can code your late model F series BMW. I think it was a worthwhile purchase but you should do your homework to see what features are available and if it is worth it to you.
