Its colorful bloom is an obvious suspect, but the lotus also has a life cycle unlike any other.
It starts off as a bud underwater, often in murky ponds - undeterred by its dirty environment - it grows until it emerges from the muddy waters into a beautiful blooming flower.
The Lotus flower holds enormous symbolic weight of Purity, Peace and Eternity. It spans various thousand-year-old Eastern cultures and yet, is still considered one of the most sacred flowers today. It can bring positive energy and peace to everyone in the house and office.
The color of the Lotus certainly affects its general meaning as well. The White and Soft Pink lotus flower from the Nelumbo family are seen as meaning Purity and Devotion. More passionately colored Pink, Lavender, Purple, Yellow, Mint Blue Lotus flower blooms can take on a spiritual meaning of ascension, enlightenment, or rebirth. It is also a beautiful gift for anyone trying to improve their life and start good habits.

I got these in the mail after about 3 weeks. I researched how to get them to sprout. Turns out you have to file through the outer shell of these seed to get to the white flesh underneath so the water can be absorbed. ( these seeds are about the size of a thumbnail but hard as a rock. I had to use a metal file. I suggest you google instructions before) Change the water every day, place in sunlight and make sure its kept at around 70 degrees. Within a week of following these instructions I have sprouts!! I'm so excited! So far 10 of my 7 have sprouted shoots. The others may not be viable or I may not have filed enough of the outer layer off. But 7 out of 10 is great!

Getting them to germinate took a lot of work. Once they did the plant filled my large water pot garden with "babies". I hope they will bloom next year.

Nice, big fat seeds. Tough shell. This did sprout but something ate the shoot. I "planted" this and another kind and something ate the other seed and something else ate the shoot out of this seed. I tries sprouting them in my shallow frog pond so I guess that was a mistake. I will figure out somewhere else to sprout since it seems squirrels and birds and frogs love these seeds and their shoots.
